Joel B. Rothman represents clients in intellectual property infringement litigation involving patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, defamation, trade libel, unfair competition, unfair and deceptive trade practices, and commercial matters.  Joel’s litigation practice also includes significant focus on electronic discovery issues such as e-discovery management and motion practice relating to e-discovery.

Joel is Board Certified in Intellectual Property Law by The Florida Bar, “AV” rated by Martindale-Hubbell, and rated 10.0 (superb) by Avvo. Joel is a former chair of the Intellectual Property Committee of the Business Law Section of The Florida Bar and a member of the Section’s Executive Council. Prior to relocating to Florida, Joel was an Assistant District Attorney in the Rackets Bureau, Investigations Division, of the Bronx District Attorney’s Office.

Joel received his J.D. with honors from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, Yeshiva University in 1991, and his B.A. magna cum laude from the State University of New York at Albany in 1988. After graduation from Davidson College, Evan worked as a Legal Assistant at Cahill Gordon and Reindel, LLP in New York City.  During law school at Wake Forest University, he spent a summer as an intern for the Honorable Joel M. Feldman in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia.  In law school, Evan was a staff member of the Wake Forest Intellectual Property Law Journal and was awarded CALI Achievement Awards in Intellectual Property and Trademarks and the 2007 ABA and Bureau of National Affairs Award for Excellence in the Study of Intellectual Property Law.

Evan practiced law for seven years with Carolyn Wright under her Photo Attorney banner, helping photographers, videographers, and other copyright holders with their legal needs.  After Carolyn decided to cut back her practice, Evan opened Pixel IP so that he could continue helping clients defend their intellectual property rights, providing creative-minded professionals with the legal foundation necessary for a successful business, and educating the public about copyright law and proper licensing practices.

Joe worked in private practice for a small intellectual property boutique before opening his own firm handling all aspects of intellectual property including patent, copyright and trademark infringement litigation.

Joe is admitted to the Patent Bar and has prosecuted numerous patents, many in his academic field of chemistry.

Joe graduated from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 2008. Prior to Cardozo, Joe taught middle school math and science in New York City, and also worked as a regulatory specialist and chemist for a supplement company.

Joe is a graduate of Binghamton University where he received a B.S. in Chemistry and a B.A. in Philosophy.

When he is not litigating intellectual property cases, Joe helps his wife Loren chase after their two children Micah and Skylar.

Angela’s experience as a professional musician in the South Florida area and later as a translator in Spanish-language broadcast television gave rise to her interest in intellectual property matters. She graduated summa cum laude from St. Thomas College of Law with a Certificate in Intellectual Property Law, earning numerous awards for academic accomplishments, and authoring three articles – on trademarks, cyber insurance, and facial recognition technology – that have been published by leading law journals.

Prior to joining SRIPLAW, Angela interned for Chief Judge Barbara M.G. Lynn at the Northern District of Texas in Dallas, and worked in intellectual property as well as commercial litigation firms in the South Florida area. Angela currently represents plaintiffs in copyright and trademark matters. Backed by the amazing support staff at SRIPLAW, Angela has spearheaded large trademark, copyright, and patent infringement cases against hundreds of foreign counterfeiters, as well as individual copyright claims for independent artists in the U.S. and abroad. She is passionate about IP rights and the role they play in our everyday lives.

In her free time, Angela enjoys spending time with her husband, especially when it involves travel or a nice glass of wine.

Layla Nguyen is passionate about intellectual property, helping clients resolve their problems and building their brands.

Layla graduated from St. Thomas University School of Law in 2020 with a Certificate in Intellectual Property Law. She served as the president of the Intellectual Property and Cyber Law Society, vice-justice of Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, vice-president of Asian American Law Students Association, and as a research assistant.

During law school, Layla was awarded many CALI Achievements Awards including in copyright, UN Seminar Global Ethics & Global Governance, Blockchain & Cryptocurrency, Conflicts of Law, Patents and Trade Secrets. Layla earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida (Go Gators!).

Prior to joining SRipLaw, Layla practiced IP litigation at another firm in Miami, interned for Magistrate Judge Barry Seltzer at the Southern District of Florida, civil litigation law firms and with in-house counsel at an international architecture firm.

Layla can speak Vietnamese conversationally. In her free time, Layla enjoys traveling, cooking, practicing yoga, and scrolling through TikTok for good laughs.

Faith grew up in southeast Georgia and attended Georgia Southern University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in political science and graduated cum laude. Consistent with her major, Faith was intimately involved in the political environment, helping to found a political science association at her university, volunteering for a US Senate campaign and, after graduation, working in Washington, DC for a grassroots organization to fundraise for various non-profits.

Upon returning to Georgia, Faith worked as a paralegal in an Atlanta law firm during the day, and attended classes at the Georgia State University College of Law in the evening. By assisting skilled attorneys while simultaneously pursuing her juris doctor degree, she developed a deep understanding of the practical aspects of litigation, and gained invaluable experience that has helped her become a more well-rounded lawyer.

During law school, Faith was involved in the Sports & Entertainment Law Society and focused her coursework in Intellectual Property Law, which allowed her to develop a deep admiration for artists and a passion for representing them. She graduated law school in December 2021 and was admitted to the Georgia Bar in June 2022. Faith specializes in copyright infringement claims, and assists her clients throughout the pre-suit negotiation phase and litigation process.

In her free time, Faith enjoys attending sporting events and cheering on all Philadelphia sports teams as well as her Georgia Southern Eagles. She lives in the Atlanta metropolitan area and loves experiencing all the city has to offer.

Jason S. Weiss is a litigator who handles all aspects of business and commercial litigation. He has extensive experience with intellectual property litigation matters including trademarks, trade secrets, fraud, consumer protection, copyright and related lawsuits.

Jason has served as an adjunct professor of Sports Law at Nova Southeastern School of Law and St. Thomas University. He has extensive sports and entertainment law experience, including representing professional football, baseball, and soccer players, personal management companies, rappers, bands, radio personalities, mixed martial arts fighters, chefs, agents, boxers, actors, writers and models.

Jason has negotiated, drafted and litigated recorded music and video deals, distribution agreements, publishing agreements, production agreements, employment contracts and endorsement deals for athletes, entertainers, musicians, chefs and agents. Jason serves as a legal advisor to professional athletes, performers and entertainers in all aspects of their professional and personal activities. Jason has been selected by Super Lawyer magazine as a Rising Star in 2009, 2010 and 2011.

His areas of concentration include Commercial/Business Litigation, Sports and Entertainment, Business Transactions, American’s with Disabilities Act cases, Consumer Protection, Landlord/Tenant Matters, Medical Marijuana, Personal Injury and Real Estate Litigation.

Jason A. Aquilino began his legal career at a large Washington, DC based law firm, where he handled business transactions and litigation matters related to licensing, copyright, trademark, Internet domain names, right of publicity and unfair competition.

Jason has also worked as in-house corporate counsel at a large tax and accounting software and services provider, a software and services provider in the healthcare industry, and at a financial services company.  During that same time, Jason also serviced clients as a sole practitioner primarily in the area of licensing, copyright infringements, trademark registration, contracting and business dispute resolution.

Jason has a strong focus serving the copyright protection needs of artists and licensors within the art licensing industry.  He also serves as Chief Legal Counsel for artonomo.com, an online platform that helps artists organize and showcase their portfolio of art.

Jason graduated with honors from the George Washington University Law Center in 2002.  He has a B.A. from Wake Forest University with a double major in Economics and Art History and a minor in Studio Art.   In his free-time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, working out, baking, playing piano and guitar, graphic design, doing home improvement work and carpentry.

Daniel Novick represents entertainment and entrepreneurial clients worldwide in matters related to business development, trademark registration and protection, and contract negotiations – with a particular focus on music, digital media, and the licensing and sale of intellectual property assets. Clients include Grammy-nominated artists with millions of records sold.

Daniel received his J.D. from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 2012, and his B.A. from Vanderbilt University in 2009. Daniel is licensed to practice law in California, New York and Tennessee. He was selected to the Super Lawyers Mid-South Rising Stars List from 2016-2019. He is a member of the Copyright Society of the South, Country Music Association.

Jamie manages the SRIPLAW litigation and IP docket, electronically files court documents, files patents and trademarks, and drafts motions and other pleadings.  Jamie is also a Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician and a whiz at Excel.
