If you are lucky enough to be a member of USAA like I am and you have a bank account with USAA Federal Savings Bank, then this paradigm shifting app is going to make you say “WOW.” Using the USAA app, USAA bank customers can use their iPhone camera to take pictures of their checks and make deposits into their accounts over the air.

WOW. You have to admit, that is cool. But it also makes sense. After all, physical checks get discarded immediately upon receipt when deposited by banks anyway because they are imaged.

The iPhone app will enable customers to take pictures of both sides of checks, and then have the funds deposited over the air. Users don’t have to send the check to the bank later.  In order to reduce fraud, the iPhone deposit feature will only be available for customers with an eligible credit score and those who have insurance from USAA. Users simply void or discard the checks after depositing them over the air.

I can’t wait to try it out!
